Method and sources
How we find races, where our data comes from and how we keep it up to date. Nothing is made up: if something is not written in a source, we don't write it.
Last updated: 7 November 2026How we discover races
Every week an automatic run reads federation calendars and race portals. From them we take only the facts we need to know that a race exists: name, date, place and distances.
Where the details come from
Fees, start times, registration, rules and course are looked up on the race's official website or in its regulations. When we read the official website, its data prevails over the portals', and every piece of data keeps track of its source.
How we keep race pages up to date
- Weekly checks: the official pages linked to race pages are read again automatically every week; clearly stated changes, such as a new date with the year, are applied on their own.
- Cancellations and postponements: a person checks them before they are published.
- Organisers: race organisers can confirm the data on their race page or ask us to correct it.
Complete pages and pages in progress
Not every race page has the same level of detail. Many races are, for now, known only from calendars: date, place and distances. When the date is not confirmed yet, the page says so. We don't submit these pages to search engines until we have completed them from the official website.
Texts, photos and weather
- Texts: we write the descriptions ourselves from the race's sources, without copying them and without adding anything the sources don't say.
- Photos: only real photos of the race or the place, from official websites or Wikimedia Commons, always with source and credit. Never AI-generated images or stock photos. If an organiser doesn't want their photos used, we remove them.
- Weather: historical race-day weather and forecasts come from Open-Meteo.
Before you register
Dates, start times and fees can change: always check them on the race's official website before registering. If you find a mistake, write to us at messaggi@digitalrunner.it.
