The race
The 7Colli Urban Trail is a 14 km urban trail race with about 380 metres of climbing through Tortona and its hills, now in its tenth edition. It starts at 9:30 from the Uccio Camagna sports hall and passes the athletics track, the Capuchin friars' park, the hamlet of Vho, Parco del Lavello and the sanctuary of Madonna della Guardia.
Around 70% of the course is on tarmac and the rest on paths that can be muddy in late November, so shoes with good grip are a must. The time limit is two and a half hours and the event supports the 'Io non getto i miei rifiuti' no-litter campaign.
Course
The 14 km course stays within Tortona's municipal boundaries, passing the athletics track, the Capuchin friars' park, the hamlet of Vho, the Lavello park and the Madonna della Guardia sanctuary. About 70% is on tarmac, the rest on trails and dirt tracks.
The seven hills
- Ronchetto (km 1.5), near the statue of the Capuchin convent;
- Savo (km 3.5), in the Castle park, the highest hill in the city;
- Colombino (km 4.2), reached coming down from Savo;
- Buffio (km 5.2), at the top of one of the steepest climbs of the race;
- Calabrino (km 7.0), in Vho, the highest point of the course;
- Eufemio (km 9.0), among the timorasso and barbera vineyards;
- Borio (km 11.3), the last effort before the vertical section to the sanctuary.
In late November the trails can be muddy: shoes with good grip on both tarmac and mud are a must.
