The race
The Bellagio Sky Race is a 29 km skyrace with 1,850 metres of elevation gain that starts and finishes on the Lungolago Europa in Bellagio, on Lake Como, and reaches the summit of Monte San Primo at about 1,680 metres. It is organised by A.S.D. NSC Bellagio Sky Team with the support of the Municipality of Bellagio and the help of the local Alpini, Pro Loco, civil protection and volunteers.
The 12th edition takes place on Sunday 25 October 2026 and is the final round of the national Skyrunner Italy Series. At 8:50 the long race and the Half Sky Race, 16.8 km and 970 m D+ up to the Monte Nuvolone viewpoint, start together; the programme is completed by the Mini Sky Race, a non-competitive 2.3 km in the gardens of Villa Melzi for children aged 5 to 11. From the summits the course looks out over the lake, the Bellagio promontory, the Grigna and the Rhaetian Alps.

Course
The Bellagio Sky Race starts from the lakefront at 221 metres, crosses the historic centre and climbs the Salita Serbelloni to the upper part of the village; a flight of steps leads to Suira (km 2), then the mule track of itinerary 1 heads towards Brogno. After a short technical section on limestone rocks the route reaches Roccolo, and from there trail 39 climbs through the woods to Paùm (km 10.3, full aid station) and, through a beech forest, to Rifugio Martina (1,200 m, aid station and first cut-off).
The hardest section leads to the summit of Monte San Primo (1,680 m, around km 12), followed by 2 km of panoramic rolling ridge to Alpe di Spessola and Ponciv. Trail 2 then descends to Alpe Vecchia and Sasso Piatto, the route fords the Perlo stream and returns to Paùm; then, via the Taiana area, Brogno, Cagnanica, Guggiate and Loppia, it enters the park of Villa Melzi, whose footbridge leads to the finish.
There are nine aid stations: two at Brogno (out and back), Roccolo, Rifugio Martina, Paùm, Monte San Primo, Ponciv, Alpe Vecchia and the finish. The Half Sky Race shares the start as far as Roccolo, then a fast single track and a dirt road lead towards Paùm and trail 2 brings runners back to Brogno and Villa Melzi, with three aid stations plus the finish. The Mini Sky Race is a 2.3 km loop with 60 m D+ in the gardens of Villa Melzi d'Eril.

Rules and requirements
The Sky Race and Half Sky Race require a competitive medical certificate valid on race day, issued by a sports medicine centre (the website lists athletics, skyrunning, cross-country skiing, ski mountaineering, triathlon or sport climbing), and a FISKY membership: those without one take out a €5 day membership when entering. Entries are on ENDU until Thursday 22 October 2026, with 300 places per race.
Fees for FISKY members are €35 until 15 September and €40 afterwards for the Sky Race, €25 and €30 for the Half; the Mini Sky Race costs €15. The fee includes a bib with chip, race pack with gadget, aid stations and a meal voucher, plus a post-race massage for the Sky Race; the finisher medal goes to those who complete the 29 km.
A windproof jacket and trail shoes are recommended, and a water bottle is mandatory because the race is plastic-free and there are no cups at the aid stations. The Sky Race has three cut-offs: Rifugio Martina 2 hours 10 minutes after the start, Ponciv at 3 hours 40 and Paùm at 4 hours 40; the Half has no cut-offs. Prize-giving is at 15:30 at the Palazzetto dello Sport, where lunch starts at 12:30.
