The race
The GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON is one of the biggest half marathons in the world and the "spring classic" of German running: in 2026 it drew more than 42,000 participants from 134 countries. It has been part of the SuperHalfs series since 2024 and is organised by SCC EVENTS, the team behind the Berlin Marathon. The course has very little elevation change, starting with a view of the Victory Column and finishing at the Brandenburg Gate, passing many of the capital's landmarks, with around 40 bands and cheering points along the way.
The 2027 race is on Sunday 4 April: wheelchair athletes start at 9:55, runners from 10:05 in waves, and the time limit is 3 hours 15 minutes. Bibs were allocated by ballot in spring 2026 and the fee is €89. On Saturday the Garmin BERLIN MILE starts in front of the Humboldt Forum, and race materials are collected at the HALF MARATHON EXPO in the former Tempelhof Airport on 2 and 3 April.

The start is on Straße des 17. At km 18 there is a cut-off at 14:15 for runners outside the time limit. The official interactive map also marks the course's danger spots.

Rules and requirements
The race is held under the rules of the German Athletics Association (DLV) and World Athletics, supervised by the Berlin Athletics Association. Runners born in 2011 or earlier can take part; walkers are welcome if they stay within the time limit, Nordic walking is not allowed. The 2027 bibs were allocated by ballot (entries 2 April - 28 May 2026, individually or in teams of 2-3, results on 16 June 2026): the €89 fee was charged only to successful entrants.
Official tour operators and charity places remain; 50 bibs at €35 are reserved for holders of the Berlin Sozialticket S. The time limit is 3 hours 15 minutes from the start line, with a cut-off at km 18 at 14:15: slower runners must continue on the pavement or take the broom bus, and only those finishing in time get a result and a medal. Start groups are based on the time given at registration, which can be changed until two months before.
Race materials are collected only in person at the HALF MARATHON EXPO with your start card. Entries are personal and cannot be transferred, cancelled or moved to another year; the only protection is cancellation insurance bought at registration. Only open-ear headphones are allowed; buggies, skateboards and accompanying vehicles are banned.
