The race
The BMO Vancouver Marathon is Vancouver's only marathon and is held every year on the first Sunday of May: the 2027 edition is on Sunday 2 May. Forbes, CNN and USA Today have named it one of the world's top destination marathons, for its views of snow-capped mountains, cherry blossoms and the ocean.
The marathon and half both start in Queen Elizabeth Park (Midlothian Avenue) and finish downtown on West Pender Street, on two different courses. The marathon crosses Pacific Spirit Park, circles the UBC campus, drops to the beaches of Spanish Banks and Kitsilano, crosses the Burrard Bridge and runs the full Stanley Park Seawall. The half, fast and downhill, passes through Chinatown, Yaletown and the West End.
The marathon starts at 8:30 and the half at 7:00; the 8K starts at 9:30 inside Stanley Park. Places are limited and the event is organised by the non-profit RUNVAN.

Course
Marathon: from the hills to the Seawall
The race starts in Queen Elizabeth Park on Midlothian Avenue, follows Cambie Street and then 29th Avenue, which becomes Imperial Drive through Pacific Spirit Park. After a turnaround on Blanca Street the course follows Marine Drive around the UBC campus and descends to Spanish Banks: halfway is at Spanish Banks West beach.
Beaches, bridge and Stanley Park
The route continues on 4th Avenue, Point Grey Road and Cornwall Avenue to Kitsilano Point, then crosses the Burrard Bridge and runs along Pacific and Beach Avenue. At the Inukshuk it joins the Seawall and follows it all the way around Stanley Park.
The downtown finish
Leaving the Seawall on Denman Street, the course takes Georgia Street and Pender Street and, after Bute Street, reaches the finish on West Pender Street.
Half marathon
Same start, then Cambie Street and the Cambie Street Bridge, Pacific Boulevard past BC Place and Science World, and a fast, downhill route through Chinatown, Yaletown and the West End.
