The race
The Beneva Calgary Marathon bills itself as Canada's longest-running marathon and is Alberta's top marathon. The 2027 edition takes place over the weekend of 29-30 May: the marathon and the half (Centaur Subaru 21.1 km) are on Sunday 30 May, starting at 6:45 and finishing at Enmax Park.
The course is certified by Athletics Alberta and Athletics Canada and counts as a qualifier for the Abbott World Marathon Majors, including Boston. The half is the weekend's biggest race, with more than 4,000 runners every year; there are also a 10K, a 5K and kids' races.
The weekend is organised by Run Calgary, with pacers for every goal, a Runners Expo and a fundraising programme, the Beneva Charity Challenge, which has raised more than $10 million since 2012.
Time limits are 6 hours 30 for the marathon and 4 hours 30 for the half. Youth aged 18 and under get a reduced fee.

Start and finish
The marathon and half start together at 6:45; the start line closes at 7:05. The 2027 start location will be announced later, while the finish is at Enmax Park.

The website publishes the 2026 course map, the route on Strava and an aerial preview video; all routes may change for 2027.

Rules and requirements
Who can take part
Minimum ages for each race are listed in the official rules. Children under the minimum age may only take part in a stroller and receive no shirt or medal.
Fees
- Reduced flat fee for all youth aged 18 and under, at any distance.
- City of Calgary Fair Entry programme: a $30 fee (plus processing fees and taxes) for low-income residents, with limited spots.
- Green bib option: no shirt and no medal, for sustainability.
Deferrals
Pregnant or postpartum participants can defer to the following year using the form, by 14 May 2027; deferrals are valid for one year only.
Registration and pickup
Registration is through Race Roster and confirmation arrives by email. At package pickup, a printed or digital confirmation or photo ID may be required.
Adaptive athletes
Handcycles and other mobility devices are welcome, with specific rules for guides and service animals.
