The race
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom is Washington's big spring race, held in cherry blossom season. In 2027 the 10 Mile is on Sunday 4 April and the 5K Run-Walk on Saturday 3 April; runners can do both with the Double Blossom.
The 10 Mile starts in six waves of about 3,500 runners each, assigned by previous race times, and is part of the 2027 Professional Road Running Organization circuit. Bag check is on the Washington Monument Grounds.
All places are allocated by lottery, open from 14 December 2026 to 5 January 2027. 2027 fees are $67 for the 10 Mile, $47 for the 5K and $114 for the Double Blossom (excluding processing fees). Guaranteed entries are also available for runners with at least 100 race miles, those not selected in the previous two years, charity runners and the previous year's volunteers.

Course
The 10 Mile
The race uses a wave start: six colour-coded corrals of about 3,500 runners, starting 3-5 minutes apart. The corral colour is printed on the bib. The staging area and bag check are on the Washington Monument Grounds; neighbourhoods within walking distance include Downtown, Foggy Bottom, West End, Farragut Square, Dupont Circle and eastern Georgetown.
The website publishes the official course and staging-area maps and a course highlights video with tips on bathrooms and aid stations.
Time limits
- 10 Mile: 2 hours 20 from crossing the start line, whatever your corral.
- 5K: 75 minutes (about 24 minutes per mile); everyone must be off the course by 9:15.
Timing
Timing uses the MyLaps BibTag, attached to the back of the bib: do not remove it. Strollers are not allowed in the 10 Mile; push-assist pairs (duos) are permitted.
