The race
The Corsa di San Martino in Controguerra, in the province of Teramo, reaches its 28th edition and bills itself as the most popular road race in Abruzzo, often with top African runners on the start line. On Sunday 8 November 2026 runners gather at 8:00 in Piazza del Commercio, and at 9:30 the 14.9 km FIDAL regional race sets off among the vineyard-covered hills of the Val Vibrata, with a time limit of two and a half hours.
The two non-competitive distances of the 14th Mangialonga Run, 5 and 8 km, start at the same time. The race fee is 15 euro, the race pack includes local pasta and wine, and the finish offers a generous spread with chestnuts and new wine.
