The race
The Egmond Halve Marathon is the North Sea coast's winter classic and is considered one of the toughest half marathons in the Netherlands: beach, dunes, wind and tides make it different every year. The 52nd edition takes place on Sunday 10 January 2027, as always on the second Sunday of January.
Start and finish are on the Boulevard Noord in Egmond aan Zee. The first 7 km are run on the beach to Castricum aan Zee, then the course climbs into the Noordhollands Duinreservaat and returns to the village past the Van Speijk lighthouse.
Alongside the half there are the 10.5 km Kwart Marathon, the Family Run (1.2 or 2.5 km, also open to wheelchairs and athletes with a disability) and the Kids Runs in Egmond and Bakkum. It is organised by Le Champion, the sports club that also runs the Dam tot Damloop.
For 2027 the individual half is sold out: entry is only possible with business teams or the charity teams of the Prinses Beatrix Spierfonds. The Kwart Marathon costs €28, the Kids and Family Runs €7.

Course
Half marathon
The race starts on the Boulevard Noord and heads straight down to the beach: 7 km on the sand to Castricum aan Zee, where a steep climb leads into the Noordhollands Duinreservaat.
It continues on the unpaved Vlewoscheweg and Grote Veldweg to Camping Bakkum, at halfway. From there it returns towards Egmond on paved roads (Van Speyklaan, Staringweg, Herderslaan, Van Oldenborghweg).
The Bloedweg brings runners back into the village with a hard climb; then the Van Speijk lighthouse comes into view, with a final rise, and from there it is 200 metres to the finish on the Boulevard Noord.
Kwart Marathon
After a 3 km loop through the village, runners go onto the beach for just over 2 km to Egmond-Binnen, climb into the dunes and return via the Middenweg and the Bloedweg, finishing on the Zeeweg in front of Hotel Zuiderduin.
