The race

The 13ª Fatica di Ercole is the half marathon of Policoro, on the Ionian coast of Basilicata, organised by ASD Lucani Free Runners: each year it takes the name of one of Hercules' labours, and the fourth edition, on Sunday 13 December 2026, is dedicated to the Erymanthian Boar. Start and finish are on Via Siris, with the gun at 9:00, over a FIDAL-certified 21.097 km.

The almost flat course links the town centre, the archaeological area of ancient Heraclea, the Bosco Pantano nature reserve and the seafront. The fee is €20 until 15 November and €25 until 10 December, with a race pack guaranteed to the first 350 entrants and a commemorative medal. Total prize money is €3,400, split between individual and club prizes.

Course

The 2026 rules set the start and finish on Via Siris in Policoro. According to the course description on the race website (2025 edition), it is a single loop that, after an urban section, heads into the countryside towards the Heraclea Archaeological Park, crosses the Bosco Pantano Nature Reserve along the Agri river between km 11 and 16 and ends with a scenic stretch on the seafront before returning to town.

It is almost flat, with a maximum height difference of about 25 metres, and the surface is 85% asphalt and 15% packed gravel. Drink stations at km 5, 10, 15 and 20 and at the finish; cut-off at km 10 within 1 hour 20 minutes.
