The race
The Movistar Madrid Medio Maratón is the Spanish capital's big spring half marathon, organised by Agrupación Deportiva Marathon, Atresmedia and Sport Life Ibérica with Madrid City Council. On 22 March 2026 it celebrated its silver jubilee with more than 30,000 runners, 36% from abroad, and wins for Kenyans Levy Kibet Chematot (1:00:49) and Ludwina Chepngetich (1:08:30); the course records are 59:38 for men (Ronald Kiprotich Kirui, 2021) and 1:07:22 for women (Winfridah Moraa, 2022).
The race holds the World Athletics Silver Label, is RFEA-certified and on the AIMS calendar. The 26th edition is on Sunday 4 April 2027 with 30,000 bibs: the start is at 9:15 (wheelchairs at 9:10) and the finish at the same spot on Paseo de Recoletos in front of the Biblioteca Nacional, with a 3-hour time limit. The loop course, introduced in 2025, climbs the Castellana towards the Bernabéu and Plaza de Castilla and returns to the centre via the Puerta de Alcalá, Gran Vía, Puerta del Sol, the Parliament and Cibeles.
Entry rises in steps from €35 to €95 (€59 in October 2026), plus €4 for a day licence. At 8:45 the Madrid 5K, with 3,000 places, starts from the same avenue.

The start is on Paseo de Recoletos in front of the Biblioteca Nacional, and the route climbs the central carriageway of the Castellana past Plaza de Emilio Castelar and Gregorio Marañón to Plaza de Castilla: this is the uphill stretch, easing around km 5. It then descends via Bravo Murillo and Cuatro Caminos, takes Raimundo Fernández Villaverde (with the flyover above the Castellana) and Joaquín Costa, loops around Plaza de la República Argentina and continues along Francisco Silvela through the Avenida de América and Manuel Becerra tunnels.
From Doctor Esquerdo and O'Donnell it reaches calle de Alcalá and circles the Puerta de Alcalá (km 14), next to the Retiro. The final third uses Serrano, Juan Bravo, Eduardo Dato, Almagro, Sagasta and Carranza, then San Bernardo, Gran Vía, calle Montera and Puerta del Sol, Carrera de San Jerónimo past the Parliament, Neptuno, Paseo del Prado and Cibeles, before going back up Recoletos to the finish. Every kilometre is marked; the course is RFEA-certified and policed by the Policía Municipal.

Rules and requirements
Anyone born in 2009 or earlier who is 18 on race day can run, licensed or not and of any nationality. A €4 RFEA day licence for accident insurance is always added to the fee; licence holders with cover in Madrid get it back at bib collection. 2027 prices depend on bib number or date: €35 (first 2,000 or until 11 May 2026), €42, €49, €59 (up to 17,000 or 1 November 2026), €69 (until 7 January 2027), €80 (until 15 February 2027) and €95 beyond 30,000, at the Expo or from the waiting list.
Those entering by 31 January 2027 get their name on the bib. At entry you give your expected time for the corral: corrals under 1:30 require an official result from the last two years sent by 14 March 2027 (corral change at the Expo €2). Time limit 3 hours.
Fees are never refunded, except with the €5 cancellation guarantee bought at entry (100% until 15 February, 50% until 14 March 2027); a change of holder without the guarantee costs €7 until 28 February and €10 at the Expo. Bib and T-shirt are collected only at the Feria del Corredor on 1, 2 and 3 April, never on Sunday.
