The race
The Maraton Warszawski is the Warsaw Marathon, one of Europe's oldest and one of the few in the world held every year without interruption since 1979, when more than two thousand runners lined up for the first edition. It is organised by the "Maraton Warszawski" Foundation and is part of the European Marathon Classics. The 49th edition takes place on Sunday 26 September 2027 at 9:00, traditionally the last Sunday of September, on a 42.195 km course certified by the Polish Athletics Association (PZLA) and World Athletics through the city centre; the exact route will be announced later.
In 2026 it started at the Palace of Culture and Science and took in the Royal Route along Krakowskie Przedmieście, Nowy Świat, the Poniatowski Bridge and the National Stadium, with just 83 metres of elevation gain. There are 15,000 bibs, 1,000 of them for runners fundraising through #BiegamDobrze, and the time limit is 6 hours 30 minutes. Registration has been open since 28 September 2026 and the fee rises in steps through the year.

Course
The 2027 route will be announced later: the regulations only state that it is 42.195 km, certified by the Polish Athletics Association (PZLA) and World Athletics, with signs at every kilometre. In 2026 the start was on ul. Świętokrzyska next to the Palace of Culture and Science, and the course ran from the Old Town to streets lined with skyscrapers: the Royal Route along Krakowskie Przedmieście with the Presidential Palace, Nowy Świat, the Poniatowski Bridge with its city panorama, the PGE Narodowy national stadium and the National Museum, with start and finish at 113 metres above sea level and just 83 metres of elevation gain.
Water stations roughly every 2.5 km from km 5, with isotonic drinks and bananas at every second one from km 10; personal drinks are not accepted. Portable toilets by each station and timing points at km 5, 10, 15, 20, 21, 30, 35 and 40: runners who cut the course are disqualified.
