The race
The Maratona do Rio turns 25 and from 27 to 30 May 2027 fills Rio de Janeiro with four days of racing: the 5K on Thursday 27, the 10K on Friday 28, the half marathon on Saturday 29 and the marathon on Sunday 30 May. Runners can also take on the 21K+42K Challenge, half and full on consecutive days.
The marathon starts at Praia do Recreio and finishes at Aterro do Flamengo; the half starts on Leblon beach and also finishes at Flamengo. The 10K starts and finishes at the Aterro, near Marina da Glória.
Brazilian runners get marathon and half bibs through a ballot, while international runners enter directly on GO DREAM or through accredited agencies, with no ballot.

10K and 5K
The 10K on Friday 28 starts at 7:00 and is held entirely at Aterro do Flamengo, near Marina da Glória. Venue and time of the 5K on Thursday 27 will be announced later.
Water stations
Mineral water about every 3 km, plus one station at the start and one at the finish of each race.

Rules and requirements
Minimum ages (as of 31 December 2027)
- Marathon and 21K+42K Challenge: 20
- Half: 18; 10K: 16; 5K: 14
Time limits
From the last wave: 6 hours for the marathon, 3 hours for the half, 90 minutes for the 10K and 5K. Runners outside the planned pace are taken off the course.

- International runners: direct entry on GO DREAM, no ballot, or through accredited travel agencies

Collection and transfers
The kit (chip bib, plus a medal for finishers) is collected in person; a proxy may collect it with specific authorisation. The entry holder can be changed once only on Go Dream, for a fee.
