The race

The Medio Maratón de Sevilla holds its 32nd edition on Sunday 13 December 2026, starting at 9:00: the race was scheduled for 29 November and was moved because of the snap general election. It was first run on 28 January 1996 as the Medio Maratón Isla de la Cartuja and took its current name in 2016, with a course through the heart of the city; it now has more than 20,000 participants and is on the Spanish federation's national calendar.

According to the rules, the start and finish are on Paseo de las Delicias, the 21.097 km course is certified and the time limit is 3 hours. The course records belong to Sebastián Kimaru (59:02) and Zeineba Yimer (1:06:33). Regular entries are sold out; the waiting list costs €50.

Course

The 21.097 km course, certified by the Spanish federation and World Athletics, runs on asphalt and paved roads; according to the rules the start and finish are on Paseo de las Delicias, while the 2026 map has not yet been published. Since 2016 the route has partly left the Cartuja and Parque del Alamillo area to run through the city centre.

Every kilometre is signposted and marshals point out turns. Water stations are at km 5, 10 (with an isotonic drink), 15 and 18.5, plus drinks and food at the finish, with medical posts at the same points. A closing vehicle travels at about 8 minutes per kilometre: runners who are overtaken are disqualified.
