The race
The Hyundai Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks was born in 1991 in the wake of the Olympic Games and has been held every year since: RPM Sports and ASO have organised it since 2011, and today it is run by RPM Sports with the Institut Barcelona Esports. It is the biggest half marathon in Spain and the second in Europe: in 2026 it had 36,000 participants, 40% from abroad and 40% women, and world-class times, with Hagos Gebrhiwet winning in 58:05 (the year's world lead) and Loice Chemnung in 1:04:00, a new women's course record.
The 2026 course map shows the World Athletics Gold Label. The 37th edition takes place on Sunday 14 February 2027: the start is at 8:30 on Passeig de Picasso, in waves based on declared pace, the finish is on the same avenue next to the Parc de la Ciutadella and the time limit is 2 hours 45 minutes. The 40,000 bibs, open to licensed and unlicensed runners aged 18 or over, sold out in 7 days in May 2026.
The course is urban and almost flat, with more than 25 entertainment points, pacers on ten target times from 1:20 to 2:05 and aid stations at km 5, 10, 15 and 17.5. After the finish comes the PaRUNda by Brooks at Poble Espanyol, the official party with live music and DJs (separate ticket).

Course
The circuit is a 21.097 km loop starting and finishing on Passeig de Picasso (reference: the official 2026 map). Runners head towards the port along Passeig d'Isabel II, pass the Columbus Monument and climb Avinguda del Paral·lel and Ronda de Sant Pau to carrer d'Entença, near Plaça d'Espanya (km 4). They then come back east along Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, drop down carrer de Bailén beside the Arc de Triomf (km 7) and enter Poblenou via carrer de Pallars and carrer de la Llacuna, with the Torre Glòries in the background.
Between km 10 and 16 the route uses carrer del Perú, carrer del Marroc, Rambla de Prim and a stretch of the Diagonal; from the Parc del Fòrum (km 17) it returns along the seafront on Passeig de Garcia Fària and Avinguda del Litoral to the Hotel Arts (km 19-20), and via carrer de la Marina and Passeig de Pujades back to the finish. Total elevation gain is about 71 m, the longest straight is 2.54 km and there are 25 corners.
The aid stations at km 5, 10, 15 and 17.5 serve water and Aquarius in cups, plus Finisher gels at km 15; all have medical staff and toilets, and the finish has drinks and food.

Rules and requirements
Anyone with a bib can run, licensed or not and from abroad too, provided they are 18 on race day; minors are not allowed, not even in strollers, on skates or bikes. No medical certificate is required: by entering you declare you are in good health, and the organisers recommend a check-up before the race; everyone is covered by Spain's compulsory sports accident insurance.
For 2027 all 40,000 bibs (€36 for nos. 1-1,000, €40 up to 10,000, €50 for the rest) are sold out; the only way in is a change of holder from a registered runner, made on the official platform until 15 January 2027 (the original runner is refunded the fee minus €16.95). The start is at 8:30 (wheelchairs 8:25) from the corral chosen at registration, which can be changed until 30 November 2026 with proof of time; the sub-elite corral requires times from the last two years (men under 30:00 10K, 1:05 half or 2:15 marathon; women under 35:00, 1:15 or 2:35).
The time limit is 2 hours 45 minutes from the last runner's start. Bib and chip are collected only at Expo Sports in the three days before, also by proxy, never on Sunday. Fees are refunded only with the Refund Guarantee bought at registration. RFEA judges and anti-doping controls apply.
