The race
The Monterosa Est Himalayan Trail, known as MEHT, is a high-mountain trail race in Macugnaga, the Walser village of the Valle Anzasca at the foot of the east face of Monte Rosa, the highest and widest in Europe. The routes run through untouched alpine terrain between Italy and Switzerland and pass through hamlets where Walser tradition lives on.
The 2027 edition is on Saturday 31 July, with four races starting and finishing at the MEHT Village in the hamlet of Staffa: the EPIC 61K and SKY 38K at 7:00, the SCENIC 21K at 9:00 and the ZMAKANA' 13K at 10:00. Places are limited: 200 for the 61K, 38K and 13K, 300 for the 21K. On Sunday 1 August at 11:00 there is the MEHT Mini Trail, a 2 km non-competitive run-walk for children and families.
The Village opens on Friday 30 July, the day of the technical briefings at the Kongresshaus (16:00 in English, 17:00 in Italian), and stays open on Saturday from 6:00 to 22:00; prize-giving is at 15:00 for the 38K, 21K and 13K and at 19:00 for the 61K.
