The race
The Podistica di Natale, formerly the Maratonina di Natale, is the end-of-year race of the Gruppo Podistico Atletico San Marino: the 54th edition takes place on Sunday 20 December 2026, starting and finishing at the San Marino Stadium in Serravalle. The recently added 21.1 km half starts at 9:15 and the classic 14.8 km at 9:30, followed by the non-competitive events and a 5 km fun walk.
The courses are hilly, with 330 metres of climbing on the half and 270 on the classic, mixing asphalt, residential areas and scenic hill sections, including the old railway tunnel. The race is approved by the San Marino athletics federation and FIDAL. Fees range from €25 to €35 for the 21 km and from €15 to €20 for the 14.8 km; every finisher gets a medal, there are showers and changing rooms, and a prize for the most original Christmas outfit.
Course
Start on the athletics track of the San Marino Stadium in Serravalle and finish at the same spot. The 14.8 km (14.7 km measured, 270 m of climbing) passes through the Ponte Mellini underpass, reaches the shopping area on the expressway along Via 3 Settembre with the Centro Atlante and WTC roundabouts, skirts Falciano and climbs to Monte Olivo in Torraccia, with a dirt loop around the church.
From Cà Vagnetto it joins the cycle path on the old railway line, with bridges, dirt sections and the historic tunnel, as far as Parco Laiala; then Via Ezio Balducci, Via De Medici and the steep descent of Strada La Ciarulla to Via Rancaglia and the final straight. The 21.1 km is a longer, tougher loop with 330 m of climbing, across urban roads and hills.
Aid stations: two on course plus the finish on the 14.8 km, four plus the finish on the 21 km; no sponge stations. Time limit 3 hours.
