The race
The Ronda Ghibellina is a trail race along the ridges of the Val di Chio, around Castiglion Fiorentino (Arezzo), retracing the old border of the Ghibelline commune through villages, fortresses, olive groves and oak, pine and chestnut woods. It is organised by A.S.D. Ronda Ghibellina.
The 17th edition takes place on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 January 2027. On Saturday afternoon the stand opens for bib collection; all races start on Sunday 31 January.
There are four competitive distances:
- Ronda Ghibellina Plus, 70 km and 3,100 m D+, at 5:00
- Ronda Ghibellina, 46.4 km and 2,370 m D+, at 8:00
- Ronda Assassina, 24 km and 1,300 m D+, at 9:00
- Ronda Minima, 15.7 km and 840 m D+, at 9:30, followed by the dog trail
The programme also includes non-competitive trekking walks (Marcia Ardita and Marcia dello Sparviero), the dog trail and the youth races of the Anello Ghibellino. From Saturday afternoon an expo area hosts sponsors, trail races and Tuscan local produce.

Course
The routes follow the ridges of the Val di Chio and reach the outermost points of the old Ghibelline territory, on CAI trails, stone-paved tracks, gullies and woods. The races are in semi-self-sufficiency: there are no cups or plates at the aid stations, so every runner needs a personal cup or bowl.
According to the rules the aid stations are at Partini, San Martino, Ranchetto, Petreto, Ristonchia and Comunanze:
- Plus: 7 aid stations
- Ronda Ghibellina: 5 aid stations
- Ronda Assassina: 2 aid stations
- Ronda Minima: 1 aid station, at Partini
There are cut-off times at Partini (11:00, Ronda Assassina only), San Martino (12:00), Petreto (15:00) and, for the Plus only, Comunanze (17:00).
