The race
The Trail del Cinghiale is a trail race in the Apennines at Palazzuolo sul Senio, a village of medieval origin in the Mugello area that was historically a crossing point between Tuscany and Romagna. It is organised by Leopodistica ASD of Faenza together with Seniobike ASD and Outdoor & Trekking Store Ravenna-Faenza. The 2026 edition takes place on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, starting and finishing in Piazza E. Alpi.
There are four ITRA-certified competitive distances: the 100K (99.7 km and 5,091 m of elevation gain) starts on Friday at 22:00, then on Saturday the 50K goes at 6:30, the 35K at 7:30 and the 20K at 9:30. On Saturday morning there are also three non-competitive routes that need no medical certificate: the 18K at 10:00, the 13K at 10:30 and the guided 6K at 10:45. Between Friday evening and Saturday the village hosts street food, food stalls and a DJ set.

Course
All routes start and finish in Piazza E. Alpi and run on Apennine trails in semi-self-sufficiency for water and food. Official figures: 100K of 99.7 km with 5,091 m D+, 50K of 50.87 km with 2,814 m D+, 35K of 34.95 km with 1,789 m D+, 20K of 19.99 km with 1,041 m D+; the non-competitive routes are 18 km (770 m D+), 13 km (600 m D+) and 6 km.
According to the official elevation profiles the 100K has ten aid stations, including Faggiola, Fontana Moneta, Piedimonte, Diacci and Lozzole, plus the life base in Palazzuolo at km 43, where runners find their change-of-clothes bag; the 50K has five (Capanno, Piedimonte, Diacci, Spiagge and Lozzole), the 35K four and the 20K one, at Faggiola, around km 9. The course is marked with flags and reflective arrows, visible at night too, but kilometres are not marked: the organisers recommend following the official tracks, downloadable from the website, on a GPS. There are no cups at the aid stations, so an eco-cup is needed.
