The race

The Trofeo Carnevale di Acireale is a 10 km road race in the centre of Acireale, during one of Sicily's best-known carnivals. It is organised by A.S.D. Correndo per Aci with the patronage of the municipality and the Fondazione del Carnevale di Acireale, under FIDAL, and is part of the Grand Prix Sicilia road-running circuit.

The start and finish are in Piazza Duomo; the loop runs along Corso Savoia, Corso Italia and Corso Umberto I and is repeated 5 times. At the 2025 edition (16 February) there were two starts: at 9:15 for everyone and at 11:00 for runners with the fastest qualifying times.

The date and rules for the 2027 edition have not yet been published.

What is the course like?

A town-centre loop repeated 5 times for 10 km, starting and finishing in Piazza Duomo and passing along Corso Savoia, Corso Italia and Corso Umberto I.

Who can take part?

In 2025 the race was open to FIDAL members from age 16 and to Runcard or Runcard-EPS holders from age 20 with a competitive medical certificate for athletics.

When is the 2027 edition?

The date has not been published yet; the race is held during the Acireale Carnival (on 16 February in 2025).
