The race

The Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich is one of the fastest marathons in the world: Ethiopia's Sisay Lemma ran 2:01:48 here in 2023 and Kenya's Joyciline Jepkosgei 2:14:00 in 2025, the course records. It holds a World Athletics Platinum Label and was named the best marathon in Spain by the Spanish federation. The 46th edition takes place on Sunday 6 December 2026: the start is at 8:15 from Plaça de la Marató, in nine waves through to 9:35, and the finish is on the footbridge over the water at the City of Arts and Sciences, with a time limit of 5 hours 30 minutes.

The AIMS/RFEA-certified course is flat, at sea level and runs along wide avenues, through El Cabanyal and the historic centre. There are 36,000 bibs, allocated through a priority window for the previous year's runners and a ballot: the race is sold out. Bibs and bags are collected at the Expo 42K at Feria Valencia from Thursday 3 to Saturday 5 December.

Course

The AIMS/RFEA-certified course is entirely on asphalt, completely flat and at sea level: it starts at Plaça de la Marató and finishes on the footbridge over the water at the City of Arts and Sciences, after a final stretch on the blue carpet. It runs along wide avenues, through El Cabanyal, the old fishermen's quarter, and the historic centre with the city's main sights, with plenty of entertainment points along the way.

Aid stations with Aquabona water in bottles and Aquarius in cups are at roughly km 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 32, 35, 37.5 and 40, with a final drinks and food station at the finish; three Enervit Red Points hand out gels with and without caffeine. The route is marked with a line and every kilometre is signposted. Runners passing km 25 after 12:57 must leave the race.

FAQ

When is the 2026 Valencia Marathon?
Sunday 6 December 2026. The first wave starts at 8:15 from Plaça de la Marató, the last at 9:35, and the race closes at 15:15.
Can I still enter?
No: the 36,000 bibs were allocated through the loyalty window and the January 2026 ballot, and the waiting list is closed to new names. The official tour operators still offer bibs in travel packages.
How much is the entry fee?
€80 for bibs 1 to 10,000, €180 for bibs 10,001 to 36,000 and ballot places, €200 from the waiting list. Runners without an RFEA or FACV licence or a Runner Plus Card add a €5 day licence.
What is the time limit?
5 hours 30 minutes from crossing the start line. Anyone reaching km 25 after 12:57 must leave the race or board the sweeper vehicle.
Where and when do I collect my bib?
Only at the Expo 42K Feria Valencia (Av. de les Fires): Thursday 3 December 17:00-21:00, Friday 4 9:00-21:00 and Saturday 5 9:00-19:00. Nothing is handed out on Sunday; you can authorise someone else through the Runner's Area.
Can I transfer my bib if I can't run?
Yes, but only through the official change-of-owner process: the new runner pays the current fee and you are refunded minus €5 (until 6 November). No changes are possible from 27 November.
Is the course really fast?
Yes: it is completely flat and at sea level, and it is where Sisay Lemma (2:01:48) and Joyciline Jepkosgei (2:14:00) set the course records. The organisers cite ideal temperatures of 12-17 °C.
