The race
The Walking for Simona is a non-competitive event founded in 2015 in memory of Simona, who died very young, and raises funds for AIL Pisa to support haematology patients at the Santa Chiara Hospital. It is held on two dates: in Segromigno in Piano on 2 June and in Pontasserchio on Sunday 1 November 2026.
In Pontasserchio participants gather from 7:00 at the Parco della Pace, with free starts between 8:00 and 9:30. There are five routes to choose from:
- 2 km and 4 km, suitable for families and children
- 8 km and 10.5 km, for those who already have a good pace
- 17 km, the longest, for trained walkers and runners
The fee is €3.50 for Trofeo Podistico Lucchese members, €4.50 for everyone else and €2 for children born from 2014; it includes a food pack, aid stations along the route and a final refreshment.
