The race

The ASICS Gold Coast Marathon is Queensland's great running festival: the 47th edition is set for Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 July 2027 on the Gold Coast. The marathon is on Sunday 4 July; Saturday 3 July hosts the half marathon and 10km. The weekend also includes a 5km, the 2km Junior Dash, wheelchair races and the 63.3km Gold Coast Double for those running both the half and the marathon.

The first edition took place on 2 September 1979 in Evandale, initiated by the Rotary Club of Surfers Paradise Central. Today it is a World Athletics Label race that drew more than 43,000 participants from over 50 countries in 2026.

The course is flat, fast and scenic, with around 29km along the beaches: winter conditions with low humidity and little wind help, and each year around 60% of participants set a personal best. Entries for 2027 open in early December 2026.
