The race
Lake Garda 42 is the marathon across the northern end of Lake Garda: it starts on the lakefront of Limone sul Garda and finishes in Malcesine, passing through Riva del Garda, Arco and Torbole. In 2027 the event takes up the weekend of 9 to 11 April, and the main races are on Sunday 11 April: the LG42, a 42.195 km marathon starting at 9:00 from Limone, and the LG21, a 21.097 km half marathon starting at 9:30 from Piazza delle Canoniche in Arco.
Both finish in Malcesine and are FIDAL Bronze-level races on a course measured with a wheel. The climbing is modest, about 180 metres of ascent on the marathon and 60 on the half, and part of the route runs through the tunnels of the Gardesana road. Around the races there is a three-day programme: a Running Expo in Arco, a food area in Malcesine, a cheering zone in Torbole, the OXYBURN Trail Run on Friday in Malcesine, the PEAK Morning Run on Saturday morning in Limone and the LG KIDS on Saturday evening in Arco.
Entry fees rise with the bib number, from 73 to 93 euros for the marathon and from 63 to 83 for the half; registration closes on 22 March 2027, or earlier if places run out. Bus and ferry shuttles between the towns are included.

Course
The LG42 starts on the lakefront of Limone sul Garda and follows the western Gardesana road to Riva del Garda, with the lake beside you and the mountains above. From Riva it crosses the streets of the old town, climbs through orchards to Arco, roughly halfway, drops along the Sarca river towards Torbole, home of the cheering zone, and continues along the eastern shore between rock walls, lake and tunnels to the finish in Malcesine, below the Scaliger Castle.
The LG21 starts from Piazza delle Canoniche in Arco and covers the same route as the second half of the marathon. The organisers give about 180 m of ascent and 160 m of descent for the marathon, and about 60 and 70 m for the half; because of the tunnels, GPS distance and altitude readings are not precise, while the course was wheel-measured and approved by FIDAL.
Aid stations: nine on the marathon and five on the half, plus a water-only point at the start and the finish refreshment. Marathon cut-offs: Riva (km 10) at 10:35, Arco (km 21.1) at 12:10, Torbole (km 28.3) at 13:15, finish by 15:15. On Sunday the SS45 bis between Limone and Riva is closed from 8:30 to 10:30 and the SS249 between Torbole and Malcesine from 9:30 to 15:00. The website offers the course map and Komoot tracks.
