The race
The NN Marathon Rotterdam is the city's largest running event and, thanks to its flat course, one of the fastest marathons in the world. The 46th edition takes place on Sunday 11 April 2027: the start is at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge, on Schiedamsedijk, and the finish is on the Coolsingel, lined with spectators. Bashir Abdi set the European record of 2:03:36 here in 2021; the race also hosts the Dutch championships and received the World Athletics Road Race Gold Label in 2025.
Marathon places go through a free pre-registration (20 October - 3 November 2026), after which everyone receives a personal link to register from 4 November until places run out. The weekend also includes the 10.55 km Quarter Marathon Rotterdam (Sunday) and, on Saturday 10 April, the 4.2 km City Run, the 1 and 2.5 km NN Kids Runs, The Marathon Rotterdam Walk over 5, 10 and 15 km and Your Marathon Challenge.
Bibs are collected at the Marathon Sport Expo in the WTC from Friday until race morning. The organiser is Rotterdam Marathon B.V., part of Golazo.

Course
It is a true city marathon. From the start on Schiedamsedijk the course immediately crosses the Erasmus Bridge to the south of Rotterdam and the Kop van Zuid; it passes the Feyenoord stadium and Ahoy before crossing the Erasmus Bridge again towards the centre (the bridge must be crossed by 2:15 pm). In the final kilometres there is a loop around the Kralingse Plas lake, then the route passes the Cube Houses and the Markthal before finishing on the Coolsingel.
The course is officially measured and fully asphalt. The Quarter Marathon starts on Burgemeester van Walsumweg near the Markthal, loops around the Kralingse Plas and finishes on the Coolsingel, with an aid station at 5 km; the City Run starts at Churchillplein, heads towards Leuvehaven and the Erasmus Bridge and returns through the Maritime District, with water at 2 km.

Rules and requirements
The marathon is open to runners aged at least 18 on race day. No medical certificate or licence is required: the general conditions ask participants to be physically fit and recommend a sports medical check. 2027 places are available only through the free pre-registration, from 20 October to 3 November 2026 at 10 am: by 5 pm on 3 November a personal link is emailed, active from 4 November.
Pre-registration does not guarantee a place: entries are allocated first come, first served; those who tried unsuccessfully for 2026 get early access (10 am) to half of the places, while the general round opens at 2 pm. Runners without a place can join the official waiting list; places are also available by fundraising for KWF (€750 by 19 February 2027) and KLABU.
Super Marathon Masters and Dutch championship entrants have separate procedures (Super Marathon Masters €155). The fee for other runners has not been published yet. The time limit is 5 hours 30 minutes, with halfway to be reached within 2 hours 45 minutes, 28 km within 3 hours 40 minutes and the Erasmus Bridge by 2:15 pm; the clock starts when the last runner crosses the start line.
Cancellation with a full refund until 1 March 2027 is only possible with the option bought at registration. Bibs are collected at the Marathon Sport Expo in the WTC with the e-ticket and a physical ID. Quarter Marathon: age 14, €33 for the first 1,750 entries then €39, time limit 1 hour 20 minutes. City Run: age 12, €18 then €19.50, 45 minutes.
