Course
The certified 42.195 km course, which the organisers call the flattest in Europe, is at sea level and sheltered from the wind. It starts on Avenida de María Luisa by the Casino de la Exposición, crosses the Guadalquivir towards Triana and the Isla de la Cartuja, returns over the Barqueta bridge, heads up to the northern and eastern districts (Avenida de Kansas City, Cruz del Campo) and comes back down to Plaza de España; the final section runs through the Alameda de Hércules, the historic centre and Avenida de la Constitución to the finish on Paseo de las Delicias at Glorieta de Buenos Aires.
Along the way you pass the Torre del Oro, the Giralda, María Luisa Park and the Maestranza. Water and Aquarius stations come roughly every 2-3 km (from km 4.6 to km 40.3), with 226ERS gels at km 20.7 and 29.6, solid food from km 25 and sponges at km 23.3 and 32.7; medical posts and toilets about every 5 km and at the finish, with physiotherapy for injured runners.
