The race
The Generali Maratón Málaga takes a marathon and a half marathon through the Andalusian city, between the centre, the port and the seafront. It is organised by LASTLAP and held under World Athletics and RFEA road-running rules, with every kilometre marked. The course records were set in 2025: 2:06:07 for men and 2:24:43 for women.
The 2026 edition is on Sunday 8 November, starting at 8:30 on Paseo del Parque in front of the University of Málaga Rectorate, followed by the other waves: the marathon returns to the same spot, while the half finishes in Plaza del General Torrijos. The time limit is 5 hours 30 minutes for the 42 km and 2 hours 45 minutes for the 21 km.
According to the organisers the renewed courses are faster, flatter and have fewer corners. Entries are open until 2 November or until the 12,000 bibs run out: in October 2026 the marathon costs €140 and the half €98. Bib and bag are collected at the Expo in the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November; on Saturday at noon there is also the 5 km Brunch Run and a Kids Race. The marathon has pacers from 3:00 to 4:30.
Course
The marathon starts and finishes on Paseo del Parque, the tree-lined avenue between the old town and the port, in front of the University Rectorate. According to the official map and the 2026 aid stations, the route passes Pasillo del Matadero (km 5), the port's Levante breakwater (km 9.5), the Calle Dr. Antonio Gutiérrez Mata area (km 15.5) and Avenida Juan Sebastián Elcano to the east (km 18), then comes back to Paseo de los Curas (km 21.5).
The second half heads west: Avenida de la Palmilla (km 25), Pasillo Santo Domingo (km 27.5) and the long stretch of Calle Pacífico, passing the athletics stadium (km 35), before returning via Calle Alemania (km 40) to the finish. The half finishes in Plaza del General Torrijos, next to Avenida Cánovas del Castillo. The organisers note that the courses may change for certification.

Rules and requirements
Anyone aged 18 or over can take part; minors cannot run the marathon. The rules require no licence or medical certificate: the organisers recommend a check-up before the race and each runner declares they are in optimal physical condition; all entrants are covered by accident and liability insurance. Online entries run from 30 December 2025 to 2 November 2026 at 20:00, or until the 12,000 bibs are gone; any remaining places are sold at the Expo.
In October 2026 the fee is €140 for the marathon and €98 for the half (VIP versions €280 and €258). Entries are personal: bibs cannot be transferred and there is no change of holder. You can switch distance until 2 November (no refund; you pay the difference to move up to the marathon).
Money is refunded only with the cancellation guarantee chosen at registration: 100% of the fee, excluding extras and the guarantee cost, if requested by 15 October. The start is at 8:30 in waves; the time limit is 5:30 from the last start in the marathon, with intermediate cut-offs, and 2:45 in the half. No wheeled devices are allowed, handbikes included, except approved racing wheelchairs. Bibs are collected only at the Expo, never on Sunday.
