The race

The Maratonina dell'Olio DOP Canino, created in 2009 by Runners Canino ASD, holds its 18th edition on Sunday 29 November 2026. It is a 10 km competitive race on a single loop, starting at 10:30 and finishing in Piazza Valentini, in the heart of the Tuscia village that was once home to the Farnese family. The course alternates the streets of the old town with about 6 km of country roads among the centuries-old olive groves that produce the DOP oil.

The fee is €15 until 15 November and €18 until 24 November, with a cap of 700 entrants; the race pack contains half a litre of DOP extra virgin olive oil and every finisher receives a commemorative medal. After the finish there is a generous refreshment with bruschetta and new oil plus local products, including a vegan and gluten-free corner.

The race is part of the Corri in Tuscia circuit, awards the 3rd AVIS Città di Canino Trophy and gives prizes of oil and wine to 370 age-group runners; bibs are free for wheelchairs with two pushers.

Course

Start and finish in Piazza Valentini. The fully paved, measured course is a single 10 km loop: the first 2.6 km or so cover the streets of the old town and some outer areas, then the route leaves the village for about 6 km of country roads, Via del Boschetto and Via di Corneto, among century-old olive trees of the Canino variety.

The last 1.4 km return through the centre to the finish. It is slightly demanding, with gentle ups and downs, and marked every kilometre; there is a water station at km 5. Km 2 is an intermediate sprint with a prize for the first man and woman; from the San Vito municipal pine wood you can watch runners pass at km 3 and km 8.
