The race

The Portofino Marathon runs along one of the most famous stretches of the Italian coast: on Sunday 31 January 2027, in its third edition, it starts at 9:15 from the Rapallo seafront and finishes in the seaside gardens of Santa Margherita Ligure, with the turnaround in the piazzetta of Portofino. The sea on one side, the pine woods of Monte di Portofino on the other; along the way runners pass the Abbey of La Cervara and the Bay of Paraggi.

According to the organisers the course is flat, with bends and very slight climbs that make it technical. The same morning sees the 20th Due Perle International Half Marathon, starting at 8:45 from Santa Margherita, whose roll of honour includes Stefano Baldini, Giacomo Leone, Daniele Meucci and Valeria Straneo. Sunday also has a non-competitive 4x10 relay, open to 60 teams, and the 5.5 km Family Run dei Due Castelli, whose proceeds go to children in Togo.

On Saturday afternoon at 3pm come the 14th Portofino Run 10K, Memorial Antonella Guzzi, and the CorriSanta Family Run, from Santa Margherita to Portofino and back. Everything is organised by ASD Atletica Due Perle. Marathon fees rise from 40 to 99 euros, half marathon fees from 25 to 50.

Course

The marathon starts on the Rapallo seafront, by the Chiosco della Musica bandstand, and finishes in Piazza Martiri della Libertà in Santa Margherita Ligure, in the gardens by the sea. The course follows the coast road towards Portofino, with the turnaround in the piazzetta, and passes the Abbey of La Cervara and the Bay of Paraggi.

It is flat but technical, with bends and gentle ups and downs; aid stations every 5 km. There is a cut-off at 10:50 at the Asta bridge in Piazza Cile, Rapallo, around km 16. The 4x10 relay uses the same course in four legs of about 10 km.

The half marathon starts on Viale Andrea Doria in Santa Margherita, goes to Portofino along the coastal road, comes back to Santa Margherita, heads to Portofino again and finishes in Piazza Martiri della Libertà. The Family Run dei Due Castelli goes from Rapallo to Santa Margherita (5.5 km), with a shuttle bus back from 12:00.

On Saturday the Portofino Run 10K and the CorriSanta start at 3pm from the castle on the seafront near the marina, turn in the piazzetta of Portofino and return to the seafront gardens.
