The race
The Primiero Dolomiti Marathon is a nature run between the Pale di San Martino and the Primiero valley in Trentino, organised by U.S. Primiero. The 12th edition takes place on Saturday 3 July 2027 over four distances, all finishing in the centre of Fiera di Primiero.
The 42K starts at 8:30 from Villa Welsperg in Val Canali, the 19th-century villa that now houses the Paneveggio – Pale di San Martino Nature Park authority, and gathers 1,243 m of ascent and 1,543 m of descent via San Martino di Castrozza and Lake Calaita, the highest point. The 26K, the San Martino di Castrozza Trail, starts at 10:15 from San Martino; the 16K, the Vanoi Trail, at 11:00 from Zortea in the Lozen valley.
The 6.5 km Family Trail, non-competitive and open to families, Nordic walkers and youngsters, starts at 9:45 from Fiera di Primiero and costs 15 euros. Surfaces alternate between asphalt, forest roads, mule tracks and trails. Online registration on ENDU opens in November; free shuttles take runners to the starts and bags are carried to the finish.

Course
The 42K leaves the meadows of Villa Welsperg in Val Canali, climbs by road to Piereni at the foot of the Pale di San Martino and continues on a rolling woodland section past the huts of Belvedere, Strine, Poline and Dagnoli, with views of the Lagorai range. A trail leads to Prati Ronzi, then a zigzag forest road and a path climb to Sora Ronz; past the Val di Roda alpine hut and the Col meadows you reach San Martino di Castrozza.
From there a forest road leads to Malga Crel and Lake Calaita, the highest point of the course; the route then descends the Lozen valley to Passo Gobbera and, along a small mountain road above Imer and Mezzano, to the finish in the old centre of Fiera di Primiero. Surface of the 42K: 29% asphalt, 36% forest road, 20% trail and 15% mule track.
The 26K starts in San Martino di Castrozza (448 m up, 1,198 m down) and the 16K in Zortea, climbing to the Lozen farmsteads and joining the other routes shortly before Passo Gobbera (389 m up, 703 m down). The Family Trail is a 6.5 km loop with 276 m of climbing through Parco Vallombrosa, up to Sante Caterine and back via the meadows of Guastaia, Praert and Molaren and the Via Nova.
Kilometre signs count down the distance left to the finish. GPX tracks for the 42K, 26K and 16K can be downloaded from the website.
