The race
The Sagrantino Wine Trail is the trail race through the Sagrantino vineyards, now in its seventh edition, held on Saturday 14 November 2026 with start and finish in Piazza del Comune in Montefalco. The long race covers 23.9 km with 575 m of climbing and starts at 10:00; at 10:15 the competitive 13.9 km Montefalco Wine Trail sets off, followed at 10:20 by the 10.5 km Grechetto Trail, which is non-competitive and open to all.
The courses run almost entirely on trails and dirt roads among vines and wineries, with some sections through private estates opened only on race day. There are no plastic cups at the aid stations, so bring your own cup or bottle. A pasta party in the San Domenico cloister follows the race, and on Sunday 15 the weekend ends with the EnogastroCamminata food and wine walk.
