The race
The Strasalerno Half Marathon is Salerno's half marathon: first held in 1993 and organised by ASD Atletica Vis Nova Salerno, it reaches its 31st edition on Sunday 25 October 2026. It is on the FIDAL national calendar and also hosts the ASI national half marathon championship. The FIDAL-certified course is a single flat loop starting and finishing on Lungomare Tafuri, next to the Vitale swimming pool: half of it runs along the seafront and half through the heart of the city, with the Amalfi Coast in the background.
The organisers describe it as one of the fastest courses in Italy, with wide roads and few, gentle bends. The same morning also features the shorter Strasalerno, competitive and non-competitive, and a Family run of about 2 km open to everyone.
Course
A single 21.097 km loop, flat, on wide roads with few bends. The start is on Lungomare Clemente Tafuri, by the Vitale swimming pool, heading north: via Clemente Mauro, corso Garibaldi past the Villa Comunale gardens and the Teatro Verdi, via Roma and via Ligea to the port area, where the course turns back. It then runs the whole seafront (Trieste, Tafuri, Marconi, Colombo) to via Allende, with another turnaround, and returns via piazza Monsignor Grasso, via Trento and via Posidonia to the seafront and the finish at the Vitale pool. Water stations every 5 km; water, fruit and more at the finish.
