The race
The WACHAUmarathon runs along the Danube through the Wachau valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site: the 27th edition is set for Sunday 26 September 2027. The marathon starts in Emmersdorf, the half marathon in Spitz and the Viertelmarathon (11 km) in Achleiten, all finishing in Krems.
The course is almost entirely flat, on the B3 road past vineyards and riverside villages. More than 8,200 participants took part in 2026, and a marathon relay is also on the programme.
