The race
The 6 ore dello Jonio, together with the 8-hour race, reaches its seventh edition on Sunday 22 November 2026 in Palagiano, in the province of Taranto, organised by Apulia Sport Palagiano. It is a round of the IUTA ultramarathon Grand Prix and awards the IUTA Italian 30-mile title, while the 8-hour Challenge Italia CSMI runs at the same time.
Both start at 9:00 from Corso Vittorio Emanuele, in front of the old town hall, on a certified 1.018 km town loop that is flat, closed to traffic and paved with tarmac and stone slabs. In the six-hour race only athletes who pass the marathon distance are ranked. Entry costs 45 euros (40 for IUTA and Club Super Marathon members) and closes on 19 November.
Course
The circuit runs entirely through town, is 1.018 km long and FIDAL-certified: flat, closed to traffic, with long straights paved with asphalt and stone slabs. Each runner wears a chip to measure the distance; when time runs out, runners stop and place on the ground the baton handed out in the last 30 minutes, and the judges measure the metres beyond the last full lap.

Rules and requirements
- FIDAL membersMembers of an Italian athletics club (Italian Athletics Federation).
- RuncardFIDAL card for runners without a club: buy it online and pair it with a competitive athletics medical certificate.
- Sports promotion bodiesMembers of an Italian sports promotion body recognised by FIDAL, with a competitive medical certificate.
Open to runners aged 20 and over with a competitive medical certificate for athletics: FIDAL members for 2026, Runcard holders and EPS members with Runcard-EPS; Italian and foreign athletes not affiliated in Italy can enter with a Runcard. The fee is €45 for FIDAL members and €40 for IUTA and Club Super Marathon Italia members, for both the 6-hour and the 8-hour race.
Entries via timingrun.it or by email to timingrun@gmail.com by Thursday 19 November 2026; no race-day entries. Timing by Timing run; everyone is ranked, but only runners who exceed 42.195 km (42 laps) receive prizes. Every finisher gets a medal, and two ambulances with defibrillators are on the circuit.
