The race
The Lago Maggiore Marathon, now in its 15th edition, takes place on Sunday 8 November 2026 along the Piedmont shore of Lake Maggiore, from Arona to Verbania. There are four races, all on point-to-point courses certified by World Athletics, AIMS and FIDAL, fully asphalt and closed to traffic: the marathon and half start at 9:00 from Arona, the 33 km at 9:30 and the 10 km at 11:30 from Fondotoce.
The half finishes in Stresa by the ferry pier, while the marathon, 33 km and 10 km finish in Pallanza. In between come Meina, Lesa, Belgirate, Baveno and Feriolo, with views of the Borromean Islands and the mountains around the lake. On race day panoramic boats take runners and supporters from Pallanza and Stresa back to Arona.
Fees rise by bib bands, with a cap of 3,500 entries overall, and the Village on the Arona lakefront is open from Friday to Sunday morning.

Course
The marathon and half start on the lakefront in Arona; the coast road follows the lake north through Meina, Lesa and Belgirate to Stresa, where the half marathon finishes in Piazzale Imbarcadero, facing the Borromean Islands. The marathon and 33 km continue through Baveno and Feriolo, round the Gulf of Fondotoce, where the 10 km starts, and pass Suna to the finish in Verbania Pallanza.
The official profile stays between about 180 and 220 metres above sea level: a fast course for chasing a time, with signs at every kilometre. Along the way there are aid stations, sponge points, toilets and timing mats; at the finish there are showers, changing rooms, massages and bags transported from the start. The full map with services and elevation profile is in the official PDF.
