The race
The Isola d'Elba Marathon reaches its 11th edition on Sunday 9 May 2027, starting at 8:45 from the Marina di Campo seafront and finishing in Piazza del Comune, home of the Marathon Village. It is organised by A.S.D. Elba Runners with the municipalities of Campo nell'Elba and Marciana.
It is a tough, scenic marathon: after the first kilometres on the seafront it climbs to the villages of Sant'Ilario and San Piero, then follows the Costa del Sole for about 25 km, through Cavoli, Seccheto, Fetovaia and Pomonte, to the turnaround at Chiessi. The course is certified and paved, with an elevation change of 675 metres according to the organisers.
The competitive races are the marathon, half marathon and 10 km, open to FIDAL and EPS members, Runcard holders with a competitive athletics medical certificate and foreign runners from clubs affiliated to World Athletics; the 42 km can also be run in non-competitive form. The marathon fee rises from €45 (summer 2026) to €75 on site, the time limit is 6 hours 30 minutes and after the finish there are a free pasta party and massages.

Course
The start is at 8:45 on the Lungomare Mibelli in Marina di Campo, by the Coop. At km 1 the marathon turns right (half and 10 km turn left) and straight away tackles the steepest climb of the course, from km 2.5 to km 6, up to the village of Sant'Ilario; after a couple of kilometres of ups and downs it reaches San Piero (km 8) and descends for about 4.5 km to Colle Palombaia (km 12.5).
From there runners cover about 25 km on the Costa del Sole, with constant ups and downs, through Cavoli, Seccheto, Fetovaia and Pomonte; around km 15 there is another climb of about one kilometre. The turnaround is at Chiessi, around km 25: the course then returns to Marina di Campo without passing Sant'Ilario and San Piero again, along the Lungomare Fabio Mibelli to the finish in Piazza del Comune.
