The race
The Pisa Marathon closes the Italian season: its 27th edition is on Sunday 20 December 2026, listed in the FIDAL and AIMS – World Athletics calendars, starting at 9:00 from Largo Cocco Griffi, next to the Piazza dei Miracoli, and finishing at the foot of the Leaning Tower. The course is flat and fast: it leaves town along the Arno, passes the basilica of San Piero a Grado, crosses the countryside of the San Rossore park and reaches the sea at Marina di Pisa before returning along the river.
Alongside the marathon, capped at 2,600 runners, the half marathon «La Pisanina» runs on the same route with a turnaround at km 13. On Saturday there is the Christmas Run, 9 non-competitive km through the centre. Fees rise by date and number of entries, from €49 to €79 for the marathon and from €29 to €45 for the half.
Bibs and race packs are collected at the Expo Village on Viale Duomo on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 December: nothing is handed out on Sunday. The 6h30 time limit, valid for the half too, opens the race to walkers and fitwalkers.

After the first city kilometres the course follows the Arno embankments to Porta a Mare, then Via Conte Fazio, Via II Settembre and Via Livornese towards La Vettola and San Piero a Grado with its Romanesque basilica.
