The race
The Maratona Città di Palermo reaches its 31st edition on Sunday 15 November 2026, listed in the FIDAL national calendar with the Bronze label. At 8:30 the marathon, the half marathon and the 4x10.5 km relay start together from Via Libertà, by Piazza Ruggero Settimo. The loop, run once for the half and twice for the marathon, climbs from the 19th-century centre to the Favorita park, passes the Palazzina Cinese and Villa Niscemi, then drops into the Arab-Norman old town through the Quattro Canti, Porta Nuova and the Palazzo dei Normanni, which runners cross inside.
The course is closed to traffic, with drinks every 5 km, sponges from km 7.5 and pacers from 3h00 to 4h15. Fees are among the lowest of Italy's big marathons, from €25 to €50, with free places for large clubs. Bibs and the race pack with Joma shirt and bag are collected at the Expo in Piazza Castelnuovo, where the bag drop is also located on Sunday. After the finish there are refreshments, massages and showers at the athletics ground on Viale del Fante.

Course
Start and finish on Via Libertà, by Piazza Ruggero Settimo. In 2025 the loop climbed Viale della Libertà to Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Via dell'Artigliere and Viale Diana into the Favorita park, with turnarounds on Via della Favorita and Via Margherita di Savoia, returning via Viale Ercole, the Palazzina Cinese and the courtyard and avenue of Villa Niscemi.
Back on Via Libertà, it went down Via Ruggero Settimo, Via Cavour and Via Roma to Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the Quattro Canti and the cathedral area (Piazza Sett'Angeli, Via Incoronazione), then Porta Nuova, Corso Calatafimi and Piazza Indipendenza, passing inside the Palazzo dei Normanni, seat of the regional assembly, and out onto Piazza del Parlamento and Piazza della Vittoria. The return ran along Via Maqueda, Via Trieste, Via Roma, Piazza Don Sturzo, Via Scinà and Via Turati to Piazza Ruggero Settimo.
The half runs the loop once, the marathon twice. Asphalt with paved stretches in the old town.
