The race
Despite its name, the Maratona di Salemi is a 21.1 km run through the Belìce Valley countryside around Salemi (Trapani): a non-competitive wine run, timed but meant to be run or walked at an easy pace through the old town, vineyards and family wineries.
The 2026 edition took place on Saturday 3 October, starting in Piazza Alicia, within a weekend from 2 to 4 October with a welcome dinner on Friday and a party after the race.
- Mixed road and off-road course with gentle hills and a few short stair sections
- Refreshment stops with local wines, regional food and live music along the way
- A 4-hour time limit, after which a sweep bus brings you back to the castle
- A dress-up theme every year: in 2026, figures from history
The entry includes the bib, Friday dinner, refreshments, medal and the closing party.
