The race

The Maratonina Città di Arezzo reaches its 27th edition on Sunday 25 October 2026. It is organised by U.P. Policiano together with FIDAL and the City of Arezzo, with the support of the Province and the Tuscany Region, under the motto «Il Cuore in Corsa» (the heart on the run).

The half marathon is run on two laps through the city's streets, on a World Athletics-certified course, starting in via Crispi and finishing in via Roma; the same morning also features a competitive 10.6 km and two non-competitive runs of 3.5 and 10.6 km. The race also hosts the Italian Doctors' Championship and the Italian Bank and Insurance Employees' Championship.

For 2026 entries closed early because the race sold out, and more than 2,000 runners are expected. On Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October the Sport & Salute Village in piazza San Jacopo hosts bib collection; on Saturday there is also a 50-metre sprint for children.

Course

Two city laps for 21.097 km, measured and certified by FIDAL and World Athletics in 2025, valid until 2029. The laps are identical except in piazza Guido Monaco, run on the right side the first time and on the left the second. From via Crispi the course passes via Roma, piazza Guido Monaco, via Garibaldi, via San Lorentino, via Petrarca, piazzale della Repubblica, viale Giotto and viale Mecenate, then the Giotto roundabout, via Raffaello Sanzio, via Anconetana, via Beato Angelico and via Tiziano, returning along viale Giotto and via Crispi; the second lap ends in via Roma.

There is no elevation difference between start and finish: altitude stays between 256 and 266 metres, with the highest points around km 6 and km 16. The roads are asphalt, with a few short paved stretches.
