The race
The Maratonina Blu Jonio reaches its 14th edition on Sunday 25 October 2026. It is a half marathon on the FIDAL national calendar with a Bronze Label, counting as the eighth round of the 24th Grand Prix Sicilia of half marathons, organised by ASD Podistica Jonia Giarre with the patronage of the towns of Riposto, Mascali and Fiumefreddo di Sicilia.
Start and finish are in Piazza del Commercio in Riposto and the course runs largely along the sea: the organisers speak of more than 16 km on the seafront. On the same day, starting together with the half at 9:15, the 2nd Corsa della Contea (2nd Trofeo della Contea) is held, a competitive 10.2 km race on the FIDAL regional calendar.
Entries close on Monday 19 October and no entries are accepted on race day. The race pack and medal are handed out at the finish when you return the chip.

Course
The half marathon is a single lap on a FIDAL-certified circuit, closed to traffic and watched over by the municipal and provincial police and civil protection. From Piazza del Commercio the race first heads south, along Via Duca del Mare and the Edoardo Pantano seafront to Piazza Vagliasindi, then turns back north, passing Piazza del Commercio again.
Via Cristoforo Colombo and Via Spiaggia lead through Sant'Anna and Fondachello, in the municipality of Mascali; the course continues on the seafront of Fiumefreddo di Sicilia and past Marina di Cottone to the Fiumefreddo bridge, the northernmost point. The return follows the coast south again, with a short out-and-back on Via Marina in Fiumefreddo, to the finish in Piazza del Commercio.
The Corsa della Contea follows the first part of the same course, turns around near the eighth kilometre at Casa Rossa and returns to Riposto through Sant'Anna.

Rules and requirements
- FIDAL membersMembers of an Italian athletics club (Italian Athletics Federation).
- RuncardFIDAL card for runners without a club: buy it online and pair it with a competitive athletics medical certificate.
- Sports promotion bodiesMembers of an Italian sports promotion body recognised by FIDAL, with a competitive medical certificate.
- International runnersMembers of a federation affiliated to World Athletics, or with a Runcard and a competitive medical certificate.
Open to 2026 FIDAL members in the Junior, Promesse and Senior categories, to Runcard or Runcard-EPS holders aged 20 and over with a competitive medical certificate for athletics and, from age 18, to members of clubs affiliated to foreign federations recognised by World Athletics. For non-resident foreigners the certificate may be issued in their own country but must include the same tests required in Italy.
Entries from 10 August to 19 October 2026 on ENDU or by e-mail to Evodata (for clubs, signed by the president), with bank transfer; the payment date counts. Half marathon: €22 until 5 October (technical shirt and souvenir guaranteed until 18 September), €27 from 6 to 19 October. Corsa della Contea: €16 until 5 October, €18 from 6 to 19 October.
Meeting at 8:00 in Piazza del Commercio, start at 9:15 for both races, prize-giving at 12:00. Time limit 2h45' for the half and 1h45' for the 10.2 km. Evodata chip timing; the chip must be returned at the finish, otherwise a €20 fee applies.
Certificate downloadable for free from ENDU. Prizes for the top three men and women overall in both races and, in the half, for the top three in each FIDAL Senior and Masters category; there is no prize money.
