The race

The Memorial Mario Cardinelli is one of the historic half marathons in the Ferrara area: organised by UISP Ferrara, it holds its 47th edition on Sunday 22 November 2026 in Pontelagoscuro, the Ferrara district on the Po river. The start is at 9:30 from Piazza Bruno Buozzi and the completely flat, paved course loops through Pontelagoscuro, the Parco Urbano, Malborghetto di Boara and the countryside towards the Po before returning to the village. A shorter race, also open to walkers, follows for €5. The half is capped at 600 runners and costs €15 to €25 depending on the online entry date, or €30 on site. The course is marked every kilometre, with all junctions marshalled, aid stations on the course and at the finish and bag drop at the Sala Orsatti. A special «Alberto Borgatti» prize goes to the first man and woman from Ferrara.

The day before, Saturday 21 November 2026, Pontelagoscuro hosts the Corrigiovani, the Memorial youth race: meeting point at 14:00 and starts from 15:00, over distances from 300 to 3000 metres for children and teenagers up to the under-18 category. Every participant receives a prize.

Course

Start from Piazza Bruno Buozzi in Pontelagoscuro. According to the 2026 map the course heads south along Via Padova and the Via Riccardo Bacchelli area, on the edge of Ferrara's Parco Urbano (km 4-6), turns east to Malborghetto di Boara (km 9) and climbs north via Via dei Calzolai and Via Acquedotto (km 12) into the countryside, nearing the Po around km 16.

The return follows Via Lavezzola back to Pontelagoscuro, finishing after km 21. The course is completely flat and paved, measured and marked every kilometre, with junctions manned by organisers and police. Two aid stations on the course plus one at the finish; ambulances on the course and medical service at the finish.
