The race
The Termal Bologna Marathon reaches its sixth edition on Sunday 7 March 2027 under the theme «The Running Symphony»: an edition dedicated to music, with the Teatro Comunale di Bologna as institutional partner. Three FIDAL-certified competitive races are held the same morning, all starting from Via Irnerio and finishing in Piazza Maggiore: the marathon, FIDAL Bronze certified and listed in the World Athletics Global Calendar, the 30 km dei Portici, dedicated to the UNESCO World Heritage porticoes and largely on the marathon route, and the Run Tune Up half marathon.
Places are capped at 3,600 for the marathon, 1,600 for the 30 km and 4,400 for the half. Fees rise by deadline: €55 to €85 for the marathon, €40 to €60 for the 30 km and €30 to €45 for the half, with entries on ENDU until 21 February 2027. The programme runs over three days around the Expo Village in Piazza Maggiore, where bibs and race packs are collected on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 March; on Saturday the square also hosts the Tigotà Kids Marathon for children aged 4 to 10.
The 2026 edition counted over 12,000 participants from 81 countries and new marathon course records: 2:16:30 for men and 2:32:42 for women.

Course
The three competitive races start together from Via Irnerio, in central Bologna, and finish in Piazza Maggiore. The 30 km dei Portici shares most of the marathon route and runs under the porticoes, a UNESCO World Heritage site; the Run Tune Up starts in the historic centre and also finishes in Piazza Maggiore. The 2027 maps, GPX tracks and elevation profiles have not been published yet: the organisers will post them on the official website.
Kilometres are marked by roadside signs. Refreshment points are roughly every 5 km (for the marathon at km 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40) plus the final one at the finish; personal drinks are not allowed.
