The race
The Memorial Sergio Benetti, now in its thirty-fifth edition, is an uphill mountain race organised by Libertas Forno Sergio Benetti: it starts in the centre of Forno Canavese and finishes on the summit of Monte Soglio after 8.5 km and 1,400 metres of climbing, with only 10% on asphalt. On Sunday 8 November runners gather at 8:00 in Piazza Vittorio Veneto and start at 9:30; the route climbs through the hamlets of Cimapiasole, Valnuovo and Milani, then along trail 401 to Alp del Cönt and Pian dei Bensi.
From the summit runners return on their own to the Santuario dei Milani for the prize-giving and pasta party, with a shuttle back to the village. It counts for Piedmont provincial and regional series and as the Turin ANA section championship.
